Tukuls Are Too Cool

Just to give you a closer look at the houses around here. They are very sturdy but over time rot becomes a problem and so does the fact that the wall are plastered with mud. The mud ends up cracking and falls leaving the wood supports open. They build really big ones to keep there livestock in and the UN has put up five in each of six villages around the area as police stations. The very top photo is of the police station in the village of Leu (low) still slightly unfinished. The other photos are just of structures in around the area and show part of the construction process.

  1. Tukuls, I would agree with you, they are neat looking.
Does the UN establish Tukuls for the displaced residence of Abyei or any other Sudanese village??

  2. So far the UN in this area has built a lot of tuculs but I don't know how many. Also a good number of NGO's are helping with the rebuilding
